2010 heralds the beginning of a new and exciting partnership between the London International Documentary Festival (LIDF) and In The Dark. Inspired by LIDF’s approach of encouraging conversation not just about film, but between different forms, styles and techniques of filmmaking, In The Dark will be hosting a series of events that will encourage audiences to close their eyes and open their ears to the world of aural story telling. With guests from Norway, Iceland and Canada, as well as the best of Britian’s home grown talent, In The Dark and LIDF will be presenting a programme of workshops and “listening” events that are set to inspire practioners and audiences alike.

On January 26th we will be celebrating the launch of this partnership through an event at The Hub in King’s Cross. The night will feature a listening session of 2009 Prix Europa Prize-winning documentary “Mighty Mac”(RTE) followed by a Q&A with Liam O’Brien, series producer for RTE’s “Documentary on One”. This will be the first of a series of festival events that will bring radio producers from around the world to showcase and discuss their radio features with UK audiences.

  1. I really enjoyed the event last night. It was a great crowd, the documentaries were exquisite and inspiring and the wine was delicious!

The Q&A was just as interesting, and it was quite engaging to hear and understand the process of aural storytelling from one of the artist.

Look forward to more events and to see In The Dark and LIDF to engage in future conversations!
