Part shoe-shop, part audio-portrait, A Mile in My Shoes is a portrait of the people and live and work on the banks of the Thames, created by The Empathy Museum, in association with In The Dark.
A Mile in My Shoes is an audio portrait of a square mile in Wandsworth featuring local residents and members of the community and is presented to the public as an interactive shoe shop. Visitors are fitted in with the shoes of another person and invited to walk a mile along the riverside while being immersed in a narrative of this stranger’s life. The project creates a snap-shot in time and exposes the role of the River Thames in the lives of the people who live and work on its banks.
All of the audio portraits have been produced in association with In The Dark.
